Defending champions Old Reptonians took on the Old Bromsgrovians in the final of the 2022 D’Abernon Cup. Hosted by the AELTC and played on the beautiful grass courts of Aorangi the day started in good spirits with a splendid breakfast. After the requisit photoshoot the tennis commenced with both teams looking sharp.
The first round played in some unexpected sunshine was hotly contested and ended with the advantage going to Repton, leading 2-1.
The second round saw a similar pattern with Repton winning the first 2 matches so it was left to their No.1 pair to complete the win. However the Old Bromsgovian 2nd pair fort well and forced a 3rd set championship tie-break. After some excellent tennis and fantastic rallies, Repton managed to secure victory with a 10.6 win. Score 5-1 to Old Reptonians!
After a very welcome lunch the third round was played out as single pro sets, with Old Reptonians manage to win all 3.
Final score 8-1.
Completion of the days events included a delicious match tea for the players and their guests and many thanks to the AELTC for hosting the match and for looking after us all so well.
