Annual Dinner
In addition to the annual fixture list, the Pubs holds its Annual Dinner in Spring every year at a prestigious venue, recent venues include The Queen’s Club and The All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club. The dinner provides the opportunity for Pubs members to enjoy one another’s company away from the court. Each year the Pubs invites a guest speaker to address its members and past speakers have included, Leon Smith, Paul Hutchins, John Inverdale, Will Greenwood MBE, Ian Ritchie and Roger Draper to name a few.
New Member’s Welcome Event
Each year, the Pubs committee likes to welcome its new members at a welcome event, usually over a game of tennis and supper. The evening is a great opportunity for new members to meet with existing members of the Pubs and to experience first hand the camaraderie its members have formed.
Informal Drinks
Informal drinks are arranged for members to get together and socialise (outside of the tennis court) in and around London. It is also a great way to meet fellow tennis players and arrange good quality matches outside of the fixture list.
On-tour Fixtures
At present, the Association has four on-tour fixtures which are great way to mix a high standard of tennis and pleasure with fellow members. Over the year, the on-tour fixtures have included:
- PSOBLTA v Fitzwilliam – usually played on the same weekend as the England/Ireland six nations match
- PSOBLTA v British Police – played in La Manga over three days
- PSOBLTA v Merchiston School – played in Edinburgh and played on the same weekend as the England/Scotland six nations match
- PSOBLTA v Club de Tenis Miraflores – played in Marbella over a weekend
Further overseas fixtures are also being discussed and will be added to the fixture list.
