The weather conditions were warm but overcast, allowing the fixture to be played on the outdoor acrylic courts at the National Tennis Centre. However, just along the road in SW19, the AELTC were officially unveiling the new roof on Court No. 1, so the occasional shower was timely for its showcasing. This meant there was some light rainfall for the Pubs matches but they were all completed without significant disruption and in good time.

The day witnessed four well contested matches with a display from both teams which, on another day may have ended in a tied scoreline. On this occasion, Imperial College clinched it, chalking up their third victory in the history of the fixture. The Pubs first pair came close to a clean sweep with two closely fought final set championship tiebreaks whilst the Pubs second pair succumbed to defeat in spite of some unrelenting competitive spirit.

It was a good afternoon’s tennis and thanks must go to the NTC for continuing to host the fixture and to Ricardo Monti for his part in co-ordinating the opposition.
